Thursday Afternoon

Hey Y'all,

As I have been reading these posts,I am continually amazed at all the Love and Support that you all are showing Jerry and my family at this time , and once again, wish to thank you all. Someday were going to have a rip-roaring party to express our gratitude for all everyone has done. We will sing and dance in celebration for all that God has done so far, and and all He is going to do.

Jerry is in a skills class with Katie so I have a couple of minutes before our next mtg. so I thought I would give a update and try to answer a few of your questions. Jerry didn't real well last night, and we think it was just a combination of being in his chair for longer periods of time, as well as being a little scared of all that is happening. He is trying to be so strong, but sometimes it is just too much. Things have moved quite quickly these last couple of days and he is just feeling a little sad. Through all this, I can understand why. But we will cast our cares on the Lord.
Jerry just came back in, I'll continue in a little while.

Dennis

I love you, Bro. It HAS to be so overwhelming for Jerry as well as for you and Katie, of course. Jerry's a fine young man, but as mature as we all felt at 19, we know he's still a kid. An amazing one, but he's a teenager.

We are with you Jerry - you are not in this alone - ever!

My prayers continue...

Hey MacCallisters! wanted to send a bit of encouragement your way. i know that a possitive attitude is key to healing and faith for a miracle... but sometimes you just need to cry and grieve and process where you are today in the midst of hoping for tomorrow. i hope that these comments offer some encouragement and hope that there are tens of hundreds of people praying for ya'll... but know that not a single one of us faults you for having a "rough" day as you process through these things. there may be a time down the road when jerry has recovered from all of this that he can counsel others through this same situation and he'll need to know how hard it was to hear certian things to help others through the moment.
we love you guys and we're praying, hoping, & crying with you.
Matthew 11:28 "Come to ME those who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give YOU rest!"

Jerry-
I can not pretend to know exactly what you are going through. Please know that we care, and that we all love you. We have compassion on you. Just like if you were our own son.
You're emotions are something to help you deal with this ordeal.
So feel them...
we love you and are with you today in prayer.
May God give you an extra measure of strength today!
Blessings

Above is the website for Project Walk in Carlsbad, near San Diego, CA. They take patients with injuries from C-2 down, who want to work to possibly walk again. We learned about them when our son was injured in October, and he will begin rehab in March or April at a Boulder, CO, facility run by someone trained at Project Walk. Keep hoping and praying.

Jerry,
I love you!
I'm praying that God lifts you up this moment and sends peace and yes, even happiness to your heart. And don't worry, we are not about to leave you, we are always here for you and can drop anything at a moments notice to be with you should you need us.
I predict you will have many visitors very soon to make you laugh and feed your tummy!
Love,
Gretchen

Hey Dennis,

I want you to know that EVERY day ALL three of us take a minute and check on how you guys are doing. We talk about the highs and lows and remind each other to pray. Yes, even Jeff has been doing his share of praying. You're a tough one not to love. We know who Jerry got that big smile from. Though. I think the good looks are Katies.
Our love and hope to see you soon.

I read a book last year entitled "11 Seconds". It is about Travis Roy, who was a college hockey player who became paralyzed from the neck down during a game. I would recommend the MacCallisters pick up a copy of it. It is a first hand account of someone going through the exact same thing. If they are interested I would be wiling to send my copy as well. My prayers are with Jerry and his family.

Hey MacCallisters! It's Ian McGinnis. Our family has been praying for you and jerry's healing. We love you guys so much and are glad to hear that you are doing better and giving it to God. I would like to visit tomorrow if possible but I'm not sure when to come... Is there a time that is available for visitors? Hope to see you soon

Hi Jerry,

I haven't logged on since Tuesday and there is so much to catch up on. It's exciting to hear that you have some strength in your arms and sensations in other areas. I know you must be anxious to get out of that place and back to the valley where the trees and the mountains await your return. Be calm and know the worst is over and a new begining awaits.

I pray for you everyday and look forward to hearing more good news on this blog.

much love,

Hi guys,
We understand the ups and downs you must have. Your lives have been turned upside down in a blink of an eye. Know that the love that we have for you all is but a drop in a ocean compared to God's love.

Hi Jerry,
Just want you to know that we've been checking your blog, thinking about you, sending you good thoughts and praying for you and your family everyday. I still can't get over all that you are having to face and deal with. I hope it helps to know that we are all there with you in spirit - especially remember this when things feel really tough. You have so many people who are always going to be there for you. It sounds like you are making good progress so far, and your positive attitude will keep you moving forward.

I'm planning on bringing Ben and a couple of other friends to visit you soon. I'll be in touch with your parents to see what works for you. In the meantime know all your friends think about you all the time.

Love, Nancy
