1:15pm, Thursday

Well, you people must be praying and our God is surely good.

As of about an hour ago, the intubation tube is GONE.  The panic and anxiety are GONE.  The distress and tiredness are GONE.

In their place are the following:  cracked jokes, sarcasm, crazy stories and the REAL JERRY.

Praise God!

And in the coming days I'll leave it to Dennis, Katie and Jerry to share more about what was going on in Jerry's head and heart these last days.....as is usual with a MacCallister, you'll be amazed.

But it's a great day.

And that feeling is palpable in Jerry's trauma center room.  Join us in thanking God for His answers to our many, many prayers.

Yours,
Marci

The Song of Mary is taken directly from the Luke 1:46-55 where it is spoken by the Mary upon the occasion of her Visitation to her cousin Elizabeth. After Mary greets Elizabeth, who is pregnant with the future John the Baptist, the child moves within Elizabeth's womb. When Elizabeth praises Mary for her faith, Mary sings in response.

Luke 1:46-55

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.
He hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;
As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

Jerry, and all of you, have been in my prayers throughout the day. This morning on my walk along the river here in Florida, I noticed about half a dozen dolphin gliding through the river, which was so flat it looked like glass. A few seagulls flew around, as the sun was rising with it's pink and purple colors. It was so incredibly peaceful....and I thought of all of you, and prayed that your hearts would be filled with the overwhelming and abundant peace of God; that continues to be my prayer throughout today. Grace and peace be with you.

Last night I was blessed to spend some time with Dennis, Katie and the gang over at Valley Medical. We've been next door neighbors since they first came to RCP. As I made the trek back over Bear Creek Road I couldn’t help but reflect on the years watching their family grow-up. All the energy and vitality Dennis and Katie have poured into Josh, Jenae, Jerry and Jessie. The myriad of times they Waved as they passed on their way to the activities and organizations they wholeheartedly participate in and support. I am a spectator of the events that have unfolded over the last week who is blown away by the love and support they show each other and the gratitude they have expressed for the many who have reached out and support them. Josh, Jenae and Jessie are so dedicated to their parents and brother. As I see how they minister and support their parents and Jerry I am humbled. This is an amazing, inspiring family whose story is destined to be one that will touch and encourage others for years to come.
I recently came across a commentary online by Charles Stanley concerning despair from 2 Corinthians 4:7-12; 16-18. This is my interpretation of what he was explaining.
“Our bodies are like the frail clay pot. Despair may creep in as a result of our frailty. But if we look at the treasure we hold inside, we are inwardly renewed day by day. The frailties and cracks in our clay pot are not to be despised, for they now serve a purpose! They allow the life of God to seep out for all those around us to see.”
As we all continue to remember the MacCallisters in prayer I would like to ask that we pray concerning the stresses that have been fallen on Josh, Jenae and Jessie. They are three young individuals who are holding down the fort at home. They transport meals and cards and the well wishes from friends and family. Please pray for safety as they come and go daily after school and jobs not returning until late at night. Pray that they can find moments to listen to music, watch T.V. or enjoy the company of their friends. The opportunity to decompress, find peace and renewed strength during their quite times.

Good to here!
The faith in God and in family support can do amazing things. I was born 2 months early do to breathing problems and The doctor said that I would be blind in one eye, mentally challenged and would have to have a metal plate in my head later in life. My whole family prayed and kept faith that I would overcome all that. Today I play sports and have 16/16 vision. It shows that keeping positive, having faith and not giving up can really help.
I think with everybody's prayers and support things can change

We have been praying and following Jerry's progress from the beginning. We're so excited that Jerry is showing progress and is once again able to communicate freely. The faith and strength shown by Katie and Dennis is truly inspiring. We will continue to pray for Jerry's recovery and for continued strength for all of the MacCallisters.

Woo Hoo! God is so good. I am so glad to hear that he is joking and has a sense of humor. God is the Great Healer, but laughter doesn't hurt either! The kids and I prayed for Jerry tonight before bed. God is a God of miracles, and today your family witnessed one.
Love,
Sara Moore and Co.
