Monday - February 2

Our lives changed forever on January 2, 2009, it seems like so long ago and yet it has only been a month. This journey has had many ups and some downs and continues to be a roller coaster, yet there have been so many blessings. When I look at the counter as it nears 30,500, my heart is full. I view the counter as prayers, I would hope that each person who visits Jerry's site would at least lift him up in prayer if even for a moment. The first day was so devastating, I felt such a strong urgency to get the word out for prayer, I wanted a prayer chain to go out around the world. As I look at the map I am so encouraged to know that people are praying all over the world for Jerry. I have to give a big shout out to all of you who forwarded and continue to forward Jerry's prayer request to everyone you know. Thank you, thank you, thank you for spreading the prayer chain. I would also like to thank Christina from MO for posting the website www.joerhea.com. Joe was paralyzed in a football injury when he was 14 and is now walking, he has a very inspirational story. I sent Joe an email asking if he would be willing to call and talk with Jerry.

Jerry continues to struggle with sleep, nausea and pain management, we are again trying different medications. It's such a vicious cycle he needs to take medication to manage pain however it's probably the medication giving him the nausea. Despite feeling nauseous for most of the day Jerry managed to get through all his therapies and even had a relaxing swim in the pool this evening. The pool is almost like a hot tub it's so warm, 98 degrees, hmmm nice.

If your an early bird, Dennis is supposed to be interviewed on the air tomorrow morning around 7:00 am on KSCO 1080 AM Radio. Another opportunity to spread the prayer chain.

Thank you father for continually blessing our family through this tragedy, thank you father for Jerry's life, thank you for so many loving people who care even when they don't know us. I pray heavenly father that you will continue to strengthen us, that you will keep hope alive in Jerry. Father please give Jerry peace, courage, strength, motivation and determination. I pray lord that you will continue the work you have started in healing Jerry's body, I pray that you will mend each and every damaged nerve in his spinal cord. I pray father that it is your will Jerry will walk again. All these things I pray in your holy name Jesus. Amen

Good night,

Katie

The map is awesome!
Those dots spell GOD, love. or Love GOD :)
oh, & I think God cancelled the rain for Saturday!
A rainbow over the firehouse would be a nice touch though!
We continue to pray.

Dennis,
Yes, please do not quit your day job.
A big thanks to Rosemary Chalmers on KSCO radio station. Even though she was born in the UK, she's an SLV valley girl at heart.
Thanks for plugging the Spaghetti Feed at Boulder Creek Fire Dept this coming Saturday! We hope to meet you.
Jerry,
I pray today is a nausea free day and that the pain you are experiencing subsides. I also pray Lord that you mend our precious boy. Let him feel all the love we are sending from wherever we are today and we ask these things in your name. Amen.
Kids,
Keep up the great job you are doing for Jerry. You all are a blessing to your parents and it shows how much you love your brother.
Katie girl, I pray you and Dennis have the strength today to "get er done."
I love you all,
Gretchen

Mother to mother, my heart was so deeply touched by your prayer, Katie, and I echo that prayer, as I'm sure so many others are doing even at this very moment. It seems like an eternity ago that we got the call, and yet it was really only "yesterday"... oh, such a different yesterday for your family. We watch you and Dennis and the kids-- helplessly... only able to pray, as you so openly live your reality before all of us... and now almost before the WHOLE WORLD. May God use your faith which is so transparent, to His glory, even through this incomprehensible circumstance. WE LIFT JERRY UP RIGHT NOW... DEAR LORD, HEAL. TRANSFORM JERRY'S HEART... even through this. Amen...

Hi Katie, this is Zack from ContentX.
I have been following your blog and think about your son a lot. Not sure if he has internet access, but there is a pretty cool story about a proffessional skateboarder who suffered a major spinal cord injury, was told he would never walk again, and now is skateboarding again. It is a pretty gritty story, not for under 12, but I loved it, really inspiring.
the link is:

it is a 16 part series, but an amazing story of a a motivated human.
My thoughts go out to you, your family, and your son.

Hi Jerry! It was good to see you the other day, I hope I can visit you again soon. I hope you like the CD I made you. Also it was good to see you too Katie, I am keeping you and Jerry in my prayers and the rest of your family, everyday---pretty much all day. The last few blog posts are really encouraging, thank you so much for all that you do. I will pray that Jerry continues to do "the worm" and that he can control that!

My wife and I were at Redwood Christian Park this past weekend for a prayer retreat with 80 people. When we learned of Jerry's injury, we all went immediately to prayer. Several of us also had the chance to hear Dennis's testimony and pray with him. I am so impressed with the majestic faith of Dennis and Katie. We are called to pray with thanksgiving, and that is what they do. May our loving Heavenly Father wonderfully bless and reward their faith and their prayers.

Our son is the same age as Jerry. They used to play together when we would visit the RCP in the summers. That was 8-10 years ago. Our hearts continually go out to the MacCallister family. We have spread the call to prayer far and wide!

May the High King of Heaven, with whom all things are possible, give the word that healing, restoration and the glory of God among His saints may be the result. We thank our Creator for giving us hope, for peace that passes understanding and for unfailing love that surrounds, uplifts and refreshes us when we have nothing left in our own strength. We praise our Heavenly Father for lovingly and powerfully working in Jerry's life!

Katie,
I'm thinking there is more than 60,000 prayers that have been offered for Jerry and your family, we pray, then we visit the blog for updates, then we pray again.
Always thinking of Jerry and looking forward to his continued progress.
Denny, Sorry I missed the radio thing, sounds like you need to stay with building...
Jerry, Keep up the good work, as you do your part...God ALWAYS shows up !!

I recently heard that the FDA approved the research of embryonic stem cells (Jan '09)& yes, there is still a lot of controversy concerning it. But, I am trying to look at the positive side of it. I truly believe that the controversy isn't about the benefits but about the potential abuse that some may try to get out of it. The research is just at the beginning stages and is probably a long way from the hopeful results but I will pray that the positive results will come quickly. Even if Jerry won't need the benefits, there are so many other people with spinal cord injuries that could possibly be helped from it.

I wish I knew that this research is all good, will benefit so many and nothing bad will come from it.

So for now, I will pray that Jerry will continue to make improvements on his own & that the research will bring about some great results to help ALL of the people with spinal cord injuries.

The MacCallisters have really opened my eyes to a whole new world and I would like to see spinal injuries become a minor injury rather than such a life changing one. My best to Jerry & his family and friends who continue to keep him motiviated!!!

Hi Jerry,

Taj from Pacific School here, I hope you get stronger. I liked seeing your pictures. Taj.

Briana here, Hope you have a lot of fun with your friends. Briana

Erik here, who was your favorite team in the Super Bowl? I wanted the Steelers to win. Erik

Hi Jer - It's snack time and the kids wanted me to bring up the blog. The first thing they did when they got in today was to ask for an update.

I told them you have the poster they made you up on your window, which brought numerous smiles to their faces.

See ya later,

Trish

Dear Jerry and family,
We have been praying for you since we heard about the accident, and following the blog. We rejoice with each new milestone, and continue to pray for complete healing, as well as for strength, wisdom, courage, and perseverance one day at a time.
Having had many answers to long-time prayers recently, we can say with confidence that "nothing is impossible with God"...absolutely nothing.
Praying you will find strength in the Lord, in His word, and in the love and support of family and friends.
A verse that I have found encouraging in trying circumstances is Philippians 4:13:
"I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
Praying for you.
