Saturday - June 13

We have a very busy weekend but should be fun none the less, Jessica's boyfriend graduated yesterday and is having a beach party, congratulations Mitch. The part that's not so good is Jessica has a tournament in Stockton today and tomorrow, so she will have to miss the first game today so she can go to the beginning of the party. I get to take Jessica to the party and then the tournament she has a game at 6:45 and 8:15 in Stockton, for those not familiar Stockton is a little less then 2 hours away. I will probably get home about midnight but Jessica will stay the night in the hotel with a friend. Dennis is staying home with Jerry and working on the room. Tomorrow Jerry's friend Mary has a graduation party congratulations Mary, so Jerry and I will go to the party while Dennis goes down to Stockton to see Jessica's game. I scored, I get to go to both parties, whoohoo!!!

Jerry could use a friend to hang with today if anyone wants to stop by, Chris, Torrie, Luke, Isaac, any takers?

Jerry was asked to become a commissioner for the Santa Cruz County Commissions for Disabilities District 5. We turned in the application this morning and should hear from the district supervisor Mark Stone within a week weather or not he has been appointed. If appointed he will have his first meeting in August. I guess will have to start calling him the Comish. ;-D

All else is going well, except Jerry has been running a low grade temperature of 99.5, don't know what that's about. I seems to feel OK just running a temp. Hopefully that will not persist or we'll have to go on a needle in the hay stack hunt to find the root cause.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Katie

Good Luck Jess! Smack that puppy over the fence!

I've been talking up the Giants game. I was at a grad party for Brennan Lynch and their neighbor reminded me that Glen Allen Hill, a classmate of mine, was at one point, coaching the Modesto Nuts. All these little connections. That's going to be a blast.

Hope you enjoyed the movie last night. Chris'll be here for Mary's party for a little while and then I'm kicking him out to drive back to Irvine by 6pm. I didn't want him getting on the road much later than that. It's the last 2.5 hours that are the kicker - when your eye lids get heavy and you think, I'm almost there when you're not really. It's a mom thing - oh, and commonsensical. Looking forward to seeing you this afternoon.

Love ya,

Trish

Jerry,
That video is so encouraging. Your body is really working hard to wake up. Thank you for letting Mom film it. I too had the tears.

Glad you guys (Isaac, Chris and Luke) all got to see the Hangover. Luke tells me it was a crack-up.

Visiting with you yesterday at Mary's graduation party was great fun too. Seeing you with Luke and Chris, like old times, makes me smile. Hopefully Luke and Gabe will get hired in the kitchen at the camp for the summer and visit with you every day.

I'm praying really hard that God gives you a happy heart and a reprieve from the pain and nausea today.

We love you Jerry!

Hello. You don't know me at all, but you know some of my family. My name is Vanessa Goodyear Fraczek; my dad is Lin Goodyear, my uncle is Mike Goodyear, and I have been "Following Jerry" since my cousin Sherry posted the link on her Facebook page.

I am an RN and a Certified Wound Specialist. I am a wound care nurse in a large hospital in Portland, Oregon. I am a little concerned about Jerry's "friction" sore. I hope it is better, but if it is not I would encourage you to see a wound care specialist as soon as possible. I am not sure who told you the sore was not a pressure ulcer; one of the leading causes of pressure ulcers is friction. If the skin opening is over a bony area, then it very likely is a pressure ulcer and should be treated agressively with advanced wound care products and complete pressure relief.

Sorry for such a long post, but I really wanted you to have this information just as a general knowledge base. I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers.

Sincerely,
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa we know the Goodyears, your lucky to be apart of such wonderful family. Thank you for following Jerry's progress and praying for Jerry and our family.

There is a wound clinic at Dominican Center where Jerry Rehabs. The wound specialist team took a look at Jerry's sore and assessed it was not pressure sore based on the location (not in bony area) and the shape (shaped like a T). Also the way the skin breakdown was it wasn't consistent with a pressure sore, this was my understanding. I was given some supplies and instructions on how to care for the wound. I'm happy to say that the wound is healing nicely and looks like it will probably be cleared up within a week or two.

Thank you so much for your post it makes me feel good to know people with expertise are looking out for Jerry and care enough to post when they feel concerned, knowledge is power and the more impute the better.

Thanks again,
Katie
